it is an easy plant but not for foreground, more like mid ground, unless your tank realy-realy big
It is an interesting plant that will grow into a nice bushy bunch. Try it. But like what Robert said, not a foreground, but more of a mid / back ground plant.

It does look like japonica except that the center is different. Not quite the typical Blyxa class. It does not have this netty look there too. I would like to say it is more closer to sagittaria class(there are at least 10 different species in this class) but the pict. is really not so good in identifying the plant. Should be a type 1 plant which is the easiest to grow kind.

Recommended to have CO2 and lights.
I put mine in my new 2ft. I am still going through my directories (Plant Dictionary) but eyes really tired so I will wait till I am not so tired...been running around the fish shops lately to get equipments, plants, fish, etc. But yours is really type 1, under no lights and CO2, it will most likely be botak if your fish is not well fed.
Right, wakky wakky...sun is bright and I have id my own plant. See if yours is the same since we got it from the same place but different shops.
Echinodorus Horemanii

Hi blue_whale, I dont think its the one in the pic, as its not as tall and the texture of the leaf looks different i.e the one in the picture looks smoother. Will take a picture with a proper digicam, but looks like have to try growing this without CO2, if not will switch to something else.
There are only 3 classes of this kind but many different types. Look forward to another pict. If it is still in the tank, no need to take out. Want to see the pattern in the center of the leaves.
Blue Whale, I do not think that Echinodorus Horemanii. It is look more like Ophiopogon species which is not aquatic
hmm...now that you mentioned it. It does look like Ophiopogon japonicus, a plant which I used to chew on it. heh.
Or could it be Blyxa aubertii
Cheers

Hey sorry, couldnt get a pic of it in my tank. Managed to take of those leftovers though. I think it is prob Blyxa japonica as I noticed the small thin flowers. Read on the websites that it requires CO2 injection, just planted them today, sigh should I remove them since I do not intend to do CO2 and get other foreground plants to spare the heartache of them melting or should I just give it a try?
Thanks guys!
really hard to id as we can't see the pattern in the center. But you can base on the names that we have provided and punch it into google for images. That would help you to id the plants.
Shadow, if it is Echinodorus Horemanii, it would be a type 4 plant meaning if it dies easily. If it is Ophiopogon japonicus, then it is a type 1 plant, meaning it will survive easily even if anyhow plant. My tank is currently setting up to be Type 3 difficulties. I am not that into iding plants anyway. So long it looks okay, that will do for me. =)
blyxa japonica have a distinct net like pattern in the center so it is very obvious if you can spot it. Dark brownish color.
