if you have shrimps.. sometimes the babies can grow to quite a large size in the filter too..haha..![]()

Hi all,
Got a shock when I was cleaning my canister filter yesterday... I removed all the filter media and was pouring out water from the canister when was quite shocked to see 1 cherry barb and 1 female apisto.
I did not notice the cherry barb missing from the tank but i noticed that my female apisto was missing for abt 2 to 3 weeks, and I thought it has died.
Anyway, the only way for the fishes to end up in the canister filter was that i install those water inlet that has a surface device to allow surface water to be absorbed into the filter. i think the fishes might have ventured into it when i topped up water above the surface device.
Well, glad to get both fishes back in the tank. They looked normal and healthy. But really wondered how they survived in the canister.

A surface skimmer you mean?
I used to find lots of shrimp happily living in my canister until I removed the "shrimpinator" from my intake.
