    Hi Guys
I would like to seek your opinion about the above mentioned type of tank especially those who have them. Does the glass scratch easily? The 4 ft ones with cabinet cost about $598 at C328. The front used to be curved but recently there is a version that is flat. The glass is well chamfered and thick. The cabinet that comes with it also looks very attractive. The only thing I'm not satisfied is that the depth is not 2ft. One other concern is how to place 6 FL tube on top and yet have space for a fan.

Why do u need the depth 2 be 2ft? U can use pl lite 2 replace the fl ones.

    More depth mah.

Does that mean that if I use PL tubes, I need to rig it up myself?

I have a 2ft version of the oceanfree bow-front tank. I quite like the built of the tank and cabinet.

However, there is been feedback someone that his Oceanfree tank sprung a leak.

Mine is doing fine so far after 1.5 years.

You can use PL tubes instead of FL. You can get those from NA @ Balestier.

I didn't consider the larger tanks because of the depth(front to back) and height. I prefer more depth and height for more aquascaping options.

    Ay Stream!!

Heard some horror stories about Ocean Free tanks. Have a look at Jebo or there's another brand that starts with P. Something like P.K.S or P.M.S. Saw them at Gan's and Choong Sua and a few other places. Looks very good and if I'm not mistaken, they also use float glass construction.

So when's the tank going to be in your house? Sometime soon I hope.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    a) as far as QC goes, ocean free is in doubt, I got my cabinet and tank from them, and the tank doors aren't aligned, they took so long (with manual fixes) and it still isn't aligned, I couldn't wait after a month and 1/2 and couldn't be bothered with it anymore.

(ie: fill the tank with water liao)

    ------------

PMJ brand = but most of these are OEM subcontracted...

so you never know..(ie: all come from same factory in china, just branded differently).

yes, gan has a very nice tall, PMJ tank, maybe got 4ft version as well.

I use these tanks. Have a 2ft, 2x3ft and a 4ft. So far so good, no scratches, leak, etc. The oldest tank is just over a year old. [:]

I've heard of one case of Ocean Free tank leaking, but that's the 2ft black-framed $25approx type. Maybe anyone with such bad experiences with this kind of open concept tanks, care to share your first-hand views here?

I'm thinking of getting a 4ft one later...

    Hi Coryfav

For your 4ft, do you use FL or PL tubes? With the limited depth, seems like there is enough room only for 2 chassis of 2xPL tubes each and perhaps a fan at most. I wonder if I can grow red plants then.

I like your cabinet choice. That would be the one I will choose. Is that a white foam you put underneath your tank? Does it comes with your set?

I'm using MH, really cannot advocate anything else.

for its price (<$200) you can illuminate the entire tank (at least for mine) with 1 . (2 is better, but 1 will do).

with an ac fan, my temp is 27

Hi there, i am having the ocean free 4ft curve tank for about 3mths so far so good no leakage or bad workmanship, maybe it is just some isolate cases of leakeage as you know sometime some LFS want to promote a certain brand name and start to attack others just be a careful consumer do your homework and work on your budget don't becos LFS start to tell u this and that and ended paying more for some items that similiar but cost more becos of the brand name. Just my 2cents worth.

when I bought mine (at c328, it was 395,) however, if you search the forums, you can find places (kelantan lane I think) where you can get them at 200
