    Just a question here.

Is JBL Ferrotabs supposed to be inserted into the gravel or can it just be dropped into the tank and letting it dissolve on its own? The owner of a LFS told me that everytime he add these tablets, all he did is just drop them into the tanks. The product packaging offers no info on how the tablets are used. Tried searching on the web and found nothing.

    Anyone can verify on this?

Based on the description on the web page: "For the absorption of nutrients through the leaves." It seemed to be meant for water dosing.

The 7 Balls are the ones for roots.

Anyway, I believe the difference is that one is readily soluble and the other is a slow releasing type. I wonder if Ferrotabs can cause "poisoning" problem if inserted too close to the roots, since it readily dissolve and cause the nutrient concentration around the roots to increase.

Diana Walstad seem to recommend substrate feeding of iron too.

On pg 169 of her book. She said "Aquatic plants readily take up iron directly from the water...." Further down, she wrote "In my opinion, the substrate - not the water - is the primary place to provide plants with iron".

for me, i tried at 1st attempt by dropping them straight into the tank... became very messy and insignificant changes in plants

den i tried inserting them inside into the substrate at different spots... and under my HG which are not doing really that well. den ALOHA !!@@
    plants have significantly green texture..
bud think that time i inserted too many, accelerated the growth of SPOTS..
