Yes, after breeding. The male will keep the eggs in his mouth until they hatch. There after, he will release the free swimming fries.

got a pair of betta krataios a few days ago
they are healthy, a bit shy but they just have to settle in
does anyone have experience with this betta, or with similar species such as betta dimidiata?
i would love to see them spawn
i know they are mouthbrooders, the male will take care of the fry?

Now swimming: Plecos and Apistogrammas

here some pics of them
they are very fast and very vivid
i read that they are peaceful and can be kept with small fish,
but they are not friendly! they ate all of my pseudoepiplatys annulatus in a day
also they are VERY good jumpers! when i was feeding them the female jumped out in my face and jumped all over my desk. catching her was difficult!
they are showing a lot of behaviour wich could be breeding behaviour
the female will swim up to the male and flares and then nips him in his side
male 'flaring'
female 'flaring'

awesome!!!

Sweet! Hope you can breed them. And make sure the cover on your tank is really tight and jump-proof. There's nothing worse than losing a fish to a really preventable cause.![]()
Nice fishes! would love to breed them too![]()

Very beautiful. They are one of the more peaceful and endearing mouthbrooders. Once stable, they will come to you and hang around during feeding time. Some will jump for food! They do well in a community setting.

Very nice photo taken....with much detail...swee! Hope to see your breeding soon
