    I use mainly Hanna and Milwaukee instruments myself. But yeah I agree a pH monitor is overkill for a small freshwater setup.

    Just a quick update. I realized that GH 5 with 80/20 RO/tap water mix is probably too soft for my Apple snails. I've noticed that their shells are not as smooth as they used to be. I'm going to try the 50/50 or 60/40 RO/tap mix to get GH around 10, which should still be fine for the fish and plants. It's still probably more tolerable than GH 18 with plain tap water.
