Anyone has expriences bringing back CRS from overseas? Planning to visit Japan and Hong Kong soon. Is it possible to buy and bring back shrimps from these destinations?
From what I've read, you can use Kordon breathing bags fully filled with water to transport shrimps. Pack them nicely into boxes and ensure that they do not burst halfway.
AVA has a restriction on how many fishes/invertebrates you can bring in and if I'm not wrong the number stands at 30. Can check out their website.
Do they pack them into foam boxes and check them in? How to keep the tempreture stable. Maybe I could ask the shop people. I hope they have experiences in dealing with shipping.
I'm assuming you want to hand carry them back yourself. The luggage compartment of an aircraft should be able to maintain the ideal temperature for CRS so I think foam boxes should suffice.
Can hand carry meh? I thought there is a impose rule of not allowing liquid of more then 100ml??? Please confirm on this again can? For checking in, I presume not a problem at all but don't think hand carry is ok la.

last week , my younger sister jus brought her water bottle , those typical nike sports bottle up S.I.A from melbourne , hand carried .it was fully filled , i was wondering if the no liquid more den 100ml onboard still apply...
better be sure... you might end up drinking the water, together with the CRS

Yes the 100ml rule still applies. Especially with the recent incident over X'mas in USA. I think I better play safe and check in. I will bring along an ice pack to keep the contents cool. I remember seeing some seafood suppliers keeping the water for their Lobsters and Shrimps really cold for transportation. So they go into hibernation mode. Not sure if this can be done for CRS?
no need ice pack, temp at higher altitude is cold. just get a shoe box, buy the shrimps last minute. pack it tightly into the shoe box with newspapers filling the gaps then check in with your luggage.

Shoe box might not be strong enough. Try to see if you can find a stronger container.
A styrofoam container or Camping type cooler box should be more than enough, the flights from Japan/Hong Kong are both under 8 hours so it shouldn't be any issue.
You really do want to use Kordon Breather bags though, because if you use regular bags with oxygen pumped in, whilst the oxygen supply will easily last 48 hours or more, the water will slosh around a lot because of the air pocket.
where do I get the breather bags?
There was a bro who brought in a batch and listed in the marketplace, can try a search and msg him to see if he has any more to spare.
If not, I think you have to order it from Novalek USA, don't think there is a local distributor.

Hey, just got back from Hong Kong and bought some shrimps there. They just pack them into plastic bags and put in a small foam box with an ice pack. No causualties. Their shrimps are from Japan and they say no problem transporting from overseas. Sometimes their shrimps take two days to travel from Japan.
Congrats on your successful transportation. Would you be kind enough to share what type of shrimps was it?
