Hose Replacement for Rena and Eheim

Hi. Anyone has replaced their Rena XP3 with a suitable hose? Any other type of hose size recommended for my eheim using 12/16mm ?thnks.

It is not recommended to change the hose size of the Eheim/Rena units. If they are using the 12/16mm hoses, you should stick with it. Using some other commercially available hose might be ineffective, if the hoses are not safe for use with fish.

Since the filters are designed to fit 12/16 mm hoses, using a large hose even with adapters, might affect the flow rate in one way or another.

You can get the Eheim hose from most LFS that stock it, like C328 and NA. Using clear hoses from hardware store, even if they are the same size.. might end up with you seeing the algae growth within the tubes more often.

I agreed with you on that on the alage on clear hose.

There are some hose that hareware shop sells that is similar to Rena & Eheim.

It is best to bring along a sample.

I think the Rena hose size is the 12/16mm that Eheim produces.

You can compare it with your existing 12/16mm Eheim hose to see if the inner diameter is the same or not. It is listed as being 5/8" on some US sites for the XP3. Refer to this table:
