    Hi,

i've a 2x1x1ft tank placing in my room and using 2213. During at night i will on aircon. So at night my tank temp will be around 23-24 deg. During noon will be 26-27.

i'm planning to keep crs. is it ok if i use dolphin mini chiller 789 during noon?

    Re: Chilling tank water

If the Dolphin chiller is rated to be able to handle a 2ft tank, there should be no problems. The issue here is to ensure that there is no sudden change in temperature so your shrimps do not get stressed.

Most compressor chillers comes with a temperature controller. So, you can just leave it on as it wont kick in due to the lower temperature of your air conditioned room. It'll automatically work during day time when the temperature goes above your desired temperature.

so if lets say i set to 25 deg. then if my tank temp is 24, the chiller will be on standby mode? does the standby mode consume a lot power?

Yes, that's correct! I'm not very sure about the power consuming part but I dont think so. In standby mode, only your temperature controller is working. Compressor and fan's shouldn't consume any power.

It is just like leaving your TV on standby mode, consume little, if worry, just switch it off. Timer does consume electricity too, though not as much as the standby mode.

Forget about using dolphin mini chiller 789 unless really have very tight budget. It don't really work that well, especially on a 2ft tank. Many other factors to consider too, like your tank location, environment condition etc. Get a compressor chiller instead if you are into CRS on long term, even a cheap one is so much better than dolphin.
