    Hi guys,

I need some help in making a temperature controller. The purpose of it is to switch on the heating device (which is a heating cable) when the temperature gets too low and switch off when the temperature is too high.

The nearest i found on the web is this http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/diy-...-build-133364/
but i am not sure what it means by solid state relay. Anyone can help explain it to me? Thanks in advance!

I believe there are heating tube (make of glass) available in most of the LFS. It will heat up the water when the temperature gets too low and switch off when the temperature reaches the pre-set maximum temperature.

I think it should cost about $20 plus dollar. Save the trouble of DIY which may be more expensive.

wataru, what are you using the heating cable for? If it's for a planted tank, I think some people have split opinions regarding it's use. If all you wanted is for something to heat up the tank water, you can just buy an aquarium heater with a thermostat built in.
