u can try with low grades, but the question is, if you are spending your money on high grades, would you want to risk it by subjecting them to less than ideal conditions? You may try, but it may turn out to be an expensive misadventure..

Hi all,
Am trying to set up a new shrimp tank, about 1 to 1.5ft nano.
Currently leaving it to cycle and am wondering what shrimps to add in.
I've had success with Cherries and Malayan and Sakuras without chiller and just a fan blowing into my 1.5ft.
My question is: can CRS survive and breed under same condition? anyone had similar experience or success?

what is your room temperature? not everyone have the same room temperature. if your room temperature is around 25-26 most probably it will be no problem with C-A grades although the color wouldnt be that nice.

well, my tank is in the living room, haven't had chance to measure the temp yet.... hopefully my fan is enough..... i shall go do some recording while cycling the tank.
suggest you get a chiller because using a fan will evaporates your tank water faster.frequent topping up of water will cause ph swing.

darn..... but i don't have canister filter......

usually the lower grade crs would be better tolerant towards higher temperature as compare to higher grade ones. even so, the colour may not be that nice at higher temperature.

If the temperature is consistent using a fan. Then I dont think it is a issue keep the shrimps. I have tried previously to use a fan to keep up to A grades. They berried, but no shrimplets.

I have B and C grades Crs at 25-26 degrees (throughout the day) no problem![]()

My 2ft tank is current running with just an aqua tornado fan which can maintain temp around 25.5 to 26.5 so far the shrimp are doing fine and manage to berries and have some shrimplets. I do have some S grade living in teh same tank which last till date is more than half a year. However getting higer grade to berries might not be possible.

maybe can get a dolphin tem chiller if you are really tight on budget.

but i thought the dolphin chillers will only bring down the temperature by say 2-3 degrees compared to surrounding air temp? say in my case, my tank temp is 25-26 degrees but without fan i can hit 28-29 easily. will the chiller be of any use here. doubt it will bring down my temp from 25 to 23 degrees right haha..
