Sharing the photos of apistogramma bitaeniata "tefe" ( from joe ). Still pretty young, especially the female. Currently separating the pair, pumping them slowly with live adult brine shrimp. Probably will wait for 2-3 weeks before letting them swim together.

Didn't read the full post. Sorry my bad. Don't look sunken to me too. Looks healthy and spunky. Should have potential to become better looking at the current fins and color.

Tank setup for this pair. Lowtech with narrow leaf fern, crypts. Actually wanted to have Ah Pek plant as foreground lawn, but the APP somehow died too easily. So, i just placed another java fern to fill in the space. haha.

    Re: Apistogramma bitaeniata "tefe"

Nice and simple tank mobile. Maybe you can consider Vallisneria and E. tenellus instead for the left side to replace the Windelov Java Fern since they grow very easily even in warmer conditions. I find Windelovs die easily for me, so I use the regular Java Fern instead. I just re-did my wilhelmi tank as well. Will post pics later on once they're settled in.

    Re: Apistogramma bitaeniata "tefe"

Ever think of E.tenellus but tentatively put the windelovs in to plug the hole, haha. Windelovs quite ok for me, this piece turned brown because i dumped them in pail with no light.

I found that the output current a bit strong for the apisto, they become kind of jumpy. Anyone got idea to redistribute the current , like a Y splitter ?

    Re: Apistogramma bitaeniata "tefe"

You can probably use a rainbar or dual rainbars to distribute the current along the water surface, with the positioning directed towards your Narrow Leaf Java Fern bunch. That should be sufficient to diffuse the current in the tank since the driftwood will be causing the water flow to move around it, thus slowing it down. Besides, the ferns seem to like some water current.

In my 2 footer, the eremnopyge just love the current from my rainbar powered by the Eden 501. They'll go up and down with the water stream.

    Re: Apistogramma bitaeniata "tefe"

I think i saw some plastic lily pipe selling cheaply at LFS, see whether i can get one of those.

I am using 2213, currently the male bitaeniata has no problem manuever the flow, but i observed that the female dislike it and tends to hide around one corner. No good for them to breed in this i guess.
