For me, both looks similar coloration. Except for the older specimen picture, the lights from the camera hit the fish at the right angle thus properly illuminating it, making it stand out more then the juvenile piece. Also, them being an adult and juvenile will also exhibit some slight differences in coloration.
And, some apistos are polychromatic. Take for example, A. bitaeniata. Even though they are from the same locality, they produce off springs of different colors.
