I personally will prefer number 3. number 1 and 2 will be covered by your plants in no time. But i seems to me that your wood look quite "fresh" it might just rot away in your tank.

The tank has been placed on the stand last week and I took this photo. It doesn't looked right. When the tank was in the floor, the wood seemed okay then.
Anyway, I went out wood hunting earlier today and was able to find a nice single and long piece. It's does not have lots of branches but I think it's unique. Here are some photos.
1. main piece
2. OR main piece with a cut-off wood on top
3. find a new one (though this is harder than I thought)
what do you think? 1 or 2 or 3?
thank you

I found a tree trunk! I parked at the top of the hill and beside it is ravine. I decided to have a look (wearing dress shoes!). and I found some fissidens (I think it's fissidens) which are turning brown. I'll pick up see if I could revive it.
On the way back up, I found this trunk with lots of "textures" to it. It seems it has been cut for quite some time. I do not know it's height but the diameter could be 30cm.
It seems I have found my wood. photos later.![]()

no pics of the trunk yet.
This is a photo of woods (3 pieces altogether) that I found last Wednesday. any thoughts?
though to be honest, I'm beginning to like no.2 since it's unique. I've been browsing around photo journals in other forums and here and the IALPC(spelling?) contest results and it seem "every man and his dog" has a "branchy" scape(no offense meant)
thank you![]()

The wood seems to be quite fresh and may cause the water condition to deoteriate later. Better to treat the branch first before using. Maybe you may want to soak in a big tub of water for a while to cure it.
