how do you get rid of water stain on the exterior of the tank??

You can try using the glass cleaner for cleaning glass at home. But take note not to let any of it goes into the tank. A safe way will be to spray the solution on a piece of cloth and wipe the tank with it, follow by a piece of damp cloth over the area. I do that most of the time and the tank looks CLEAN
