    Hi guys,

I have been cycling my tank for about 2-3 week. My PH stays constant at 6.0 I'm planning to keep cherry shrimps. I tried like 2 of them in the tank but they don't do well. But when i tried malayan shrimps they seem to be happy. Should i increase my PH? or just leave it as it is?

    Thanks for any advice given!

You should get it up to 7.0 - 7.5 if you're only intending to keep cherries.

I am using ANS Planta soil, pressurized CO2 at 1bps for 8 hrs in 2ft tank, Eheim ecco pro 2032 as filter. Plants: Spiky Moss, Moss Ball, Nana, Pelia, HC, and Anacharis.

I do not mind keeping Malayan shrimps but Cherries would be look better in the tank as a whole. If i want to increase my PH, what product should i look for and do i have to keep dosing it?

    Thanks for the help

I never use Planta soil, so can't really tell what happen but my guess is probably due to nitric acid. You filter have not fully cycled yet. Cherry do fine in 6.2-6.4, at least in my tank . I'm using ADA soil, when first setup the pH drop all the way to 5.5 (if remember correctly ) it slowly go up, after 4th weeks it stay at around 6.2-6.4. I'm assuming planta soil have the similar feature.

You can increase the pH by using coral chip, baking soda, etc. but I suggest to wait until after 4th weeks, measure the water pH again and see if it is go up.

Thanks for the suggestion Shadow. Will do a test next week and see if the readings will change.
