Finally managed to find my lost photos.

The fish has long passed away and the tank de-commissioned. However, the dream of another 6ft (or bigger) planted tank with arowana is alive. Just not the time yet.

How i wish i got the space and time for such a huge beautiful tank like yours. How did the arowana die?

Re: Old photos of arowana planted tank (image intensive)

    Make space, make time. :-)

I wish I could have made the layout more cohesive. Parts of it are nice... but as a whole, it does not come together. Well... there's always the next tank!

Arowana died after I re-introduced into the tank after a complete re-do. I had taken the precautions to keep half the old water, kept the filter running on the old water, etc. I guess half a tank of tap water was too much for the bio-filtration to handle... although I was doing 50% water change on the tank (i.e. same fish, same filter, etc) before the re-do.

Was the day before Aquarama 2005 (I think)... could not bare to go see the arowana exhibition during that Aquarama.

Vinz, your 6 feet tank has always been well documentated. Good job in creating awareness.

YouTube- Arowana in a planted tank
wow I tried putting it on u-tube once but didn't succeed
the background "noise" is from a bi-aural recording of the Amazonian rainforest.

Yes, from juvenile. About 6 inches then, if I remember correctly.

Could you furnish the details on:

    1.) filtration
    2.) lightings
    3.) substrate
    4.) Co2 system
    5.) Tank dimension
6.) Tank cover (to prevent the aro from jumping)

This is 1 beautiful tank . Hope to set up something similar soon.

    CHEERS.

Simple... go to Advance Search and search for threads by Vinz using the keywords arowana. Lots of details furnished in my posts.

The filtration change over the years, so you have to read a fair bit. The final set up had two filters... a modified Eheim 'garbage can' filter and a Eheim Pro 3. The covers started as glass and were changed to steel mesh.

    Hi Vinz,

I still remember the tank, it was then the talking point in AQ and you were constantly giving away plants from your trimmings.

Looking forward to your next project.

    cheers

    Thio

BW, along with my old photos I found the image I used for my signature. Was thinking of putting in in my signature again. Semester break coming... should have more time. *Cross fingers*

=D where is your signature?! kakaka. I still like that old signature of yours better. Moreover, the aquatic planting you did was one that I used to love it.
