    hi experts,
i have downoi in my tank now with fert etc, but my co2 sort of ran out. Just want to ask if the co2 is absolutely necessary for this plant, cos my other plants dont need it . They are still as green meanwhile.
    thanks

Should be, but not too urgent. Light more likely.

    Re: Does DOWNOI need co2?

    Hi,

on the subject of growing Downoi:

    My tank is about ~240L,
Light: 8 hours of 39Wx2 of T5, some times 39Wx3.
    CO2 supplemented.
Temp: Fiddles with it a bit, ranges 25-27.5C in these 2 months.
    Substrate: ADA II Amazonia
Fert: Seachem Potassium and Phosphate. Some ad hoc random dosing of LushGro Aqua.

I has 4 stems of Downoi, 2 melted away. The remaining 2 on and off has big holes in the leaves and now also en route to melting totally. What's lacking?

    Thanks!
    Kenny

Remember reading somewhere that ADA soil not suitable for Downoi. I was using new concept soil and Downoi similarly melted. But the place i bought it from (Spore Poly) seem to be very successful in harvesting them. Shared my experience with them and was told that Downoi prefers Lapis Sand.

    low lights?? What about temp?
Mine was in gex with crs, no fert, t5 lights 6 hrs, temp 25, they started melting at first, then new shoots came out.
Not long after that all started melting now gone.

    Re: Does DOWNOI need co2?

Many has relative success in growing Downoi with lapis. Partly these plants grow emerse by the rocky river banks in the wild. Their roots cling onto the rock.

However, IMO, it is interesting to know
Downoi can be grown in a low maintenance tank , no co2, no fert , low light.....
It will be good to know more...
