surface skimmer

wat does a surface skimmer does? if i have a 2 gal tank i need it? 10 gal?
i will hav maybe just ricca and maybe some foxtail in tank,

A suface skimmer basically removes protein film that is pretty common for a planted tank whatever the size or plants maybe.

for a 2 gallon tank, I dun think a skimmer is practical -> no space. maybe for the 10 gallon tank. if u wish, u can even diy one small one. can't remember the link though, do a search on the web.
