Yes... look at the diagram on the ballast. The diagram probably show a FL tube. PL tube (4-pin type) is like a FL bent into a U-shape.

correct me if I am wrong
ballast 3 to PL 1
ballast 4 to PL 2
ballast 5 to PL 3
ballast 6 to PL 4
right?
PL 1 to 4 is top to btm with the brand facing me right?
I don't remember about the numbering. Just follow the diagram and treat the PL tube like a bent FL tube. The first 2 pins of the PL is one end of FL, and the next 2 is the other end.

Not sure if this is the type of PL light you are using.
There are some pics at this thread http://www.aquaticquotient.com/phpbb...opic.php?t=529
See the connections labelled A and B.

KF, my connection is different.[:0] One the PL tube, my wiring is blue-red-blue-red compared to yours which is blue-blue-red-red.
Hope you don't mind me linking your pics here.
Maybe later I'll go home to check again... but I am pretty sure.

Look at your PL pins. Does not matter which side is up. Label the pins 1 to 4 from left to right.
Ballast hole 1 -> 1st PL pin 1
2 -> 2
3 -> 3
4 -> 4
5 -> 2nd PL 1
6 -> 2
7 -> 3
8 -> 4
Get the idea? Wire colours is only to help you keep track of the wires. Remember, it does not matter which way the PL faces, just label them 1 to 4 from one side to the other.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
yr connection is different from Juggers'
his is :
ballast 1 to PL 1
ballast 2 to PL 3
ballast 3 to PL 2
ballast 4 to PL 4
which one is correct? blur liao leh
E ballast comes in many brands therefore connections may differ slightly. Like mentioned, look at the diagram on your ballast. That would be the correct connection.
Both of us are using the same e-ballast, with the same diagram on it (PL tube pin order should be the same no matter what brand). My connections work. I'm sure his works too, otherwise he won't be posting the pics.
So, can anyone give a better answer/explanation?

Vinz: My PL is connected differently from yours. I have used this kind of connection in more than 5 of my DIY light sets:----------------

I got a feeling that both might work.
but just like to know - what's the worst thing will happen if it doesn't? just trip only right? or will the buld blow?
both will work. remember, e-ballast simulates both the iron-core ballast and the starter in the conventional FL/PL circuit. It uses power electronics components to generate the necessary voltage/current to start up the tube. diagrams are just to help users connect the circuit in the fastest possible time without having to know the inner workings of the e-ballast.
