Also cover it with a soft small towel at night but make sure it got some space to breathe and don't hold it too often, our body temperature are higher than them.

I've a spare 2ft tall tank so its in there now with paper towels as base and some plastic pots for it to slp in... have put some mealworms in a small dish in case it gets hungry... will try and "fix" its wing tomorrow

If the oatmeal worms too big, try crickets...some lfs sells them, bird seeds I think temporary not necessary, the crickets can release later if cannot finish. Can use chopsticks to pick up the crickets if you scare to use hand.

if the oatmeal worm to big, you can cut them into small piece, put the worm in a small cup then cut use a sissor. until it is small.

    Re: Injured Sparrow

dkk, if you don't mind spending some $$, perhaps you should bring it to a vet for professional help. If the injury is not minor, better to bring to vet so they can check.

I found a sparrow once too, but that one was being attacked by those red ants we call kerengga. I took off as many of the ants as I could but alas it was too late. It's possible your sparrow is a young bird that fell out of the nest.

=X My dad got a special gift, he always con birds down from trees with his whistle, so my house keeps getting baby birds. I can't I injured my front tooth falling off from a stairs hitting the railing. So the tooth departed from me since 13 yrs. old. Only recent years then I go for denture. :~(

    Re: Injured Sparrow

anyway I think the Sparrow should be fine, it has already eaten 20 small mealworms and 8 super worms, its a greedy fella, its more active too.

Here's some pics when my nephews first found the little fella, pardon the quality of the pic as it was taken with my iPhone with very lousy lighting, did my best to edit it with the best applications I've

Once you see it start to spread it's wings for test flights, it would be time to say good bye. I feel happy for you too.

same goes to any living thing. keeping in cage or tank. if you give them a good place, comfortable set up, give them enough food, they will be happy, like staying in a five star hotel.

    Re: Injured Sparrow

That's great! When you walk home, look around. Area with sparrow crowd is the ideal place. They will mingle on their own. Just have to make sure no cats around. If within 15mins upon release, it still can't fly, then the time is not ripe yet.
