hahaha water parameters I can't give yet, I've yet to buy the 5-in-1 tester. . I only know my pH is at 7, that's the only tester I have.
It looks like the beginning of a breakout, this tank is about a month old.
~30 cherries, ~20 Crs, 2 ottos, java moss wall, 10cm rock covered in java moss..
I was thinking will getting a nerite solve this problem?
haha i got this problem too, but i didn't really bother it. any pros and cons of having this algae?
=) Soo...10hrs. Want to try shortening to 8hrs?
If you are looking at elimination, then do blackout for a few days.
T5 24w comes in 2 tubes and 4 tubes, so you need to highlight further. There is no mentioning of dosing iron, phosphous, potassium, nitrogen, etc. Do highlight if you did those.
Those who do very light planting instead of heavy planting usually have to battle with algae or learn how to co-exist. The presence of algae simply means there is a food source for them to grow. E.g. Heavy fish feeding habits. Long hours of lighting, High on Iron but low on nitrogen and phousrous. There are a lot of postings on this, so you might already have your answers just by reading the current section that you are posting too.
Since you got sensitive shrimp like CRS and GSA is a common algae, you might want to consider using credit card kind of plastic to scrub off the GSA instead of using other stuff, another method is to cut down the no. of light tube or shorten the lighting period. That should solve your current issue.![]()

Nerites and some hornworts to soak up excess nutrients plus lower the lighting hours should help prevent a full bloom after you've scrapped off the existing GSA...
Just my 2 cents
Scrapping is a pain..
i also have this algae..
Some nerite snail will help you go a long way in fighting GSA.
