    Folks,

Here's my 2 week old planted tank. If you ask me about those cardinal tetras...I have already tested my water with a couple of commando fishes...

ADA to E.Tellenus is really very potent.

By the way, I have yet to clear the cloudiness in my tank...That's really sadz...More water change to come...

My substrate: Bacter100, Super Clear, Tourmaline BC, Penac W, Power Sand Special + Ferka Aqua base..

Don't ask me why I added the ferka aquabase. I had good experience with it with my last tank..which seen rather good healthy growth of crypts, etc.

Nice scape you have. I like the forground plant, very lush.

With ADA super clear and it's still cloudy? How big is this tank? At times, lesser WC will clear up cloudiness faster as BB has a chance to colonise.

Nice setup, picture too small cant see clearly. For new setup, before BB mature and get on the work the bunch of cardinal already start giving stress to the BB. You got a strange setup for the inlet and the skimmer, skimmer alone can do the task, your design may slow down the flow .

That's a very nice setup. The inlet tube looks very unique. Wouldn't it slow down the water flow? Will you be planting some plants to cover up the tubes on the left side?

By the way, how many cardinal tetras do you have in the 4 ft? They are schooling really nicely. Thinking of adding a few more tetras, as my 10 cardinals are not really schooling now.

If i had know earlier that ferka aquabase will promote crypt growth, i'd surely add them to my base fertilizers.

Ermh...on the left side, I have my crypto Balanse that is still not growing too well..well, there's new growth but the leaves are about 10 cm there abouts...hopefully they will grow taller in time.

I got about 100 pieces of cardinal tetras..

Where did you get those tenellus? 2 weeks old only, or did you plant a huge amount?

    Cheers, Christophe

Ermh..I really did not plant that many...most of them are grown out of my tank..I guess it helps cos the uncle at Teo gave me submersed tennellus and perhaps...ADA works like magic?

Give it some time Edwin, the tank should clear up.

Hmmm...The centre looks rather thin, I suggest taller and thicker planting , perhaps some narrow leaves java for mid area and taller crypts in the back. Or even a large Echinodorous or Nymphaea to fill in the void.

nice scaping you have there... where do you buy the wood in your tank? i'm have a 4ft tank too but cant find a suitable wood for my tank.

    Hi wynx,

In addition to Fei Miao's comment, how about making the right side "heavier"? Because the hardscape arrangement presents a heavy side to that area. With the vals on the left, there seemed to be of some unbalance.

Also, I supposed the Cambomba (guessing here) are temporary.

PS: With regards to your cloudiness, it is due to the bacteria suspended in the water. It will take awhile for it to go away. You might want to consider adding a pack of ADA Bio Rio into your filter. We find that it helps to clear up this bacteria suspension problem.

    Hi Wynx,

What's your filtration like? 3 bags of powersand? Did you get the right size for the depth of your tank? They make it in different size pumice stones for different depth because of water pressure.

For a 4X2X2ft tank it's two powersand special L 6 liter[the 18 liter one is enough for 6ft tank.], 4 bags Aquasoil, 1 bag Aquasoil powder.

okay, here goes ... 3 x 2 KG power sand Special + 4 Packs of Aquabase + approximately 5 packs of ADA Aquasoil + 1 x 5kg of Lapis Sand( I couldn't get bright sand from all shops that I went) ...so I choose Lapis...

As for my filtration, I am using a single 2028, but I reckon I will add the other one this weekend...

I think that's more than what I put and since I used white sand I don't use powder!

One 2028 is a tad low. I think it's enough for 200-300L but 4X2X2 is almost 400 liter.

Someone was telling me that too fast the filtration will hasten the erosion of aquasoil. What do you think? Anyway, can't get my other 2028 until I get the leaky issue fixed..
