hi everyone, I need some advice here.

as i will be leaving singapore for about 6 to 7 mths, nobody is gonna take care of my tank... i decide to empty my tank out.. but not the substrate and the soil...

will it be ok if i leave the tank like that with no water but just the substrate and soil, without taking them out.. but just making sure it's dry...

    Please advise thanks

    Regards,
    YQ

what soil did you have? If not mistaken, ADA soil will easily crumble when it dry.

    Re: Advice

wat he means is to use those cling flim to warp the top part of the tank ( cover it up with no gaps ) so that the water will stays inside ( high humidity ) its will keep ur soil moist for the whole 6-7 months

    Re: Advice

you are not suppose to fill the water all the way, just enough to make it wet and as long as no light, no algae. Look at ADA soil package, when you open you probably realize it is a bit damn not wet but not dry either.

hmmm i think this will take me sometime to figure out what is damp... coz i really dont remember the dampness... so am i suppose to leave it open to reduce the humidity till it reaches that certain dampness then cling wrap it up?

a picture shows a thousand words

what we mean is like this, just let the soil be damp and cover with cling flim to let the water stays inside.
