Nice Apisto Agassizi you got there bro.![]()
Your Agassizi red is very different from mine, nice orange. The smaller one looks like a sneaker/sleeper male.

Easy way to sex aga female. The tail should be round, and the dorsal and anal fin lacking the extra long finnage.
I don't think yours are considered agassizii red though. Maybe a similar variant, since the Red form has a pretty obvious reddish colour in the tail as compared to the orange tone in yours.

Hi Misery,
Sorry I'm not really sure. Tentatively you can just call it Red, but to me it doesn't seem like the usual Red at the LFS. Nice specimen for the male though.
Female is the one in pictures 1,2,3,4,7 and the final picture. In the final pic it is the one to the right. Judging from the final pic, I would agree that it might be a sneaker male instead of a female. All agassizii females lack the pointed tail like the males. They are usually rounded for the tail fin.

You're welcome. As for the "female", if you really want to be sure, let it flare at a mirror and try taking a picture, with focus on the tail. If you see signs of a pointed tail, it's a definite sneaker male.

roger on that , how about face markings.. like shiny spots near the face areas , will female have it ?
Some will have it, but not as much or as bright as in males.
This is my previous female, that died not too long ago:
Doesn't show it clearly, but she did have some facial markings which were fairly faint and not as obvious as in the males.

One very obvious should be the one spot marking on the body.

Current tank: 1 4 tier 3ft fish rack
Livestock: WC Ivanacara Adoketa, WC Apistogramma Kelleri 'Red Cheeks', A , WC Apistogramma Mendezi, WC Apistogramma Cruziero, WC Apistogramma Elizabethae and WC Biotoecus Operularis.
The spot can be seen on sneaker aga males too. To be certain, when the females are in peak breeding condition, their belly will be fat and you can see the white through the yellowish scales. The middle body spot will intensify in darkness and you will see that it remains a dot with no trace of the body's middle line. This dot differs in size from female to female, but it should remain in place with no other markings.
Same female in the picture above, showing the dot.
When the female is brooding eggs the dot will remain and the middle body band running from nose tip to tail will disappear. She will turn an extremely bright yellow, like most Apisto females.

hey bro, nice fishes you have. erm, your tank seems rather empty? doesn't seem to have much hiding space, perhaps you should concentrate on breaking the line of sight.
