    Hi,

Does anyone care to share if there is a way to reduce dust particles floating on the top of the tank besides covering the top of the tank?

Is it protein film you are refering dust to?.....if it is, use a skimmer as suggested.

For a one time job, use newspaper. Cut a piece as big as possible and let is float on the surface. The 'dust' will be remove together with the newspaper. You may have to repeat the process several time.

    Thanks for all the ideas.

It is not protein for sure.

I will try the newspaper technique.

Another way is to use a fish net...with very fine linings, slowly (dun stir), from one end get to the other then slowly U turn the net.

This would be a faster method...if u stir too fast, u might disturb the dirts that are subsiding on the sand bed. If so, use Mr. Cleaner to deal with the dirt. The clouding should be clear after leaving Mr. Cleaner on for 30 mins.

If you have a filter, then at the direction where water flows in, place Mr. Cleaner there, dirts are easily captured.

there's also the method of using a shallow bowl or container to skim it off manually
for me, my otos suck in the protein film at night
quite amazing to see the surface nice and clean
they even take in the dust which the fan delivers
