Very nice, you need to have more hiding place for them.

Your tank is too small for the tropheus dubosi. They need at least a 3ft tank when they reach adults and they'll grow very fast. Btw did you buy them from NKS for abt $30+ ?

for mine they grow very slow, changing them into 4ft tank when adult size. I bought from y618 and qianhu

    Re: My tanganyikan Setup

From the pic you have some of them that looks like the german dubosi i saw quite sometime back at NKS. They had 2 tanks of dubosi, the normal one and the $30+ german ones. The front part of the german ones looks more whitish... like the band abt the show even at that young age while the normal ones don't really exhibit this.

I've kept a few pieces of the normal ones b4 and even when they are almost adult in size only 2 of them show the white band (not promenient somemore) while the rest is almost black in colour. Really curious to knw whether other people who have kept the normal ones also have the same experience as me.

From the two places you bought, it's very likely the normal taiwan fish which cost below $10 but you've got a few good pieces there.

They are fantastic fishes to keep!! They're always so lively and energetic and i really enjoy watching them. They can eat alot and they always seem to be hungry so DON'T overfeed them. They can grow very fast!! Do check out www.cichlid-forum.com for more info about them and to drool over the setups of the overseas' hobbyists.

    Re: My tanganyikan Setup

I started keeping dubosi a few yrs back but later got rid of them and now i have ikola, red rainbows and muragos.

For the "better" quality ones, the white dots fade out and the white bands show up at about 3inches to slightly smaller than 3inches in size. I've seen foreign hobbyist's fishes not only change colour from a young age but the white band is also very broad and clear unlike mine.
