    Hi Stmoo

the rule of thumb is 3watts to 1gallon of water. You may want to check out Nature Chan for PL or FL of your tank dimension.....I would go for PL as FL for your tank width is quite limited for ideal wattage.

On the side note have you considered 1x150watts MH lights?

    Talk about lighting... I have:
    2 x 25W Arcadia Fresh water lamp
    1 x 25W ? Tropical Lamp
    1 x 30W Osram Daylight tube

As my wife is always nagging that the light is too bright and emmiting heat. She will usually off my 2 x 25W Arcadia freshwater FL which is place at the front. When the Arcadia FL is off, the plants stop bubbling. the rear plants bubbling also reduce. I revert the lighting OFF rear lights & ON Arcardia light, the plants will start to bubble again.

Here's the Qs: from this observation, Osram Daylight tube is not suitable for Plants ($3.50 Fl, Cannot expect much lah)? Heard that Hitachi Extra brightness tube ($7 - $ does a better job? Any comments?

    stmoo,

u have only 61W in total or ~1.5W/Gallon. Not advisable to try riccia, glossostigma. These are light demanding plants.

MH does come in various colour temp from 5000K to 10000K. What we normally use for planted tan is 6500K which is available from EYE Lighting.

on a side note, I would not recomend a single MH installed as they tend to cast strong shadows making light coverage diffcult unless you tan is a cube. Only my opinion.
    Cheers!!
