Just setup about 3 months ago. been through lots of changes to this state.

view of mini pond. with floaters.

    floaters removed for clearer view.

    this is the star grass

This is the other potted plant. but i lost the name to this plant. looks abit like lotus

    my fantail

the Eden 501 is hidden below the frog. Water suppose to sprout from frog's mouth, but it causes too much splash due to height. so i redo to the sprout to come out from below. the "blackbox" in the top left is the UV.

u can see some bumblebee snail inside. I just add them in last night

comments to improve my mini pond is appreciated.

    >"< I like the first one where if I am the owner, I can tell people, there are 5 goldies in the pond, how many can you find, then you can get people to start counting them as the goldies play hide and seek.

When the view gets too clear, it takes away the fun. Just what I think.

Recently, when my relatives comes to my house for CNY visit, they busy doing counting fishes so they got stuck to the tank for quite some time. ^^ So you might wish to think along that line. Besides, more hidding place is more fun for the fish because they tend to like to explore around. Even under the driftwood.

Since you are interested in goldies, you could look for YangZhou (扬州) 7th Bonsai and Fish Exhibition. (扬州金鱼在第七届中国花卉博览会获大奖), Some 20 species were showcase. Just google for them will do but loading speed might be slower due to China's dam censorship program (Official Firewall).

    Re: My mini pond (outdoor)

i am always on the first 1. remove the floaters just to show what is below, lol.

yeah i like the first 1 too, will only remove 1-2 floaters when i do feeding with pellets. then put them back when done feeding.

the floaters help to lower the water temp alot too. those bumerbee snails are so good. just put them in for 2 days, and they cleared almost 30% of the GSA. i only put 5 in the mini pond

i like goldies, but they come with a price.... or rather shit.... their poo poo

    Good good.

Gravity huh? Have you got Mr. Cleaner? The battery (2xC size) operated vaccum cleaner which you can also use for gravel cleaning or just suck it. The head is changeable like vaccum cleaner.

    Re: My mini pond (outdoor)

Should be $10-$20. Maybe at the range of $12. C328, Biotope all have it, whichever is nearer to you. Some places do sell the replacement bag for the Mr. Cleaner, remember to get 1/2 extra bag if you do see it. Won't be expensive. Battery you have to remove and store seperately if not in use. =P I forgot to remove and didn't use, that's how my 2 Mr. Cleaner mati (dies)...ha..

    Re: My mini pond (outdoor)

so far no such issue. the floaters leaves will drop, but new 1 will grow out. as for the potted plants, the goldfish cannot reach it.

Nice setup! I did not see any liner being used, will there be any water seepage problem?

    Re: My mini pond (outdoor)

ripley: there is a fibreglass linear. u can see it on the second pic, the 1 without floater. its grey in color. the granite blocks probably hide it well.

AquaZinYaw: Its on my planter box. i deck it up to become a mini balcony. the frog end is my living room/planter box area sliding door. The end with the star glass is the parameter of the planter box with glass frame.

Xianghao: the frog is actually used to weight down the wooden plank it sit on. below the plank is the Eden501. that is my way to weather proof it, sort of.....lol

and i just got the Mr Cleaner for less than $10 at C328

    Hi Kim Yong,

How's Mr. Cleaner? Can make it? Normal C size battery can last for some time so no need to get alkaline ones. But you will need to check the battery from any leaking before use.

Blue Whale: now then u tell me. i bought the alkaline battery. actually only need to on the pump for the water flow, then off it. the water will just flow by it self. I threw away the $2 manual pump i had. so much better. realy had to thank u for the recommendation.

I used it on my sulawesi shrimp tank most of the time....

    Re: My mini pond (outdoor)

Oh don't worry, the battery compartment is quite air tight. So long you don't get it wet. I use alkaline battery before, last quite some time. But putting battery inside through prolong period is still not good. The switch is in the center. You can on/off as please. You can still leave the battery in but do your visual check regularly.

When not using, disconnect all the parts and store it. This way you won't risk knocking and breaking any plastic. The vacuum bag usually I just flush with water spray. -.- what I meant was did you find it useful?
