    Re: question on moss

java moss, taiwan and spiky should be okay. why dont you add a fan instead? can bring the temperature to about 27C. you have to top up water more frequently though.

    Re: question on moss

Flame moss also works in this temperature (27-29)
I have no issue with it and it's growing well in my tank.

Likely all moss are easy to grow, it will take sometime, it might turn brown but it will recover after sometime(months?) It's took me about 2 month to recover my flame moss. hope this help..

I have a 2ft moss/ferns tank running under exactly the same condition, i.e. 2ft 18W FL lightset, no co2, no fert, lapis gravel, AC fan 24/7, temp 24.5-26, 14hrs of light. Moss and shrimps are happy. No algae too . Most 2ft FL lightsets use 15W FL, but you can get a 18W FL type from Seaview. I prefer 18W as the tube covers the entire 2ft length and is readily available and cheap ( (e.g. philips ecotone $1.99 from NTUC) to replace.

sad to say dont know why my flame moss doesnt works out in my 4ft tank (4x54 + 2x55). other moss like peacock moss and fissiden had already grown out but my flame moss show no sign of growth.. i have another flame moss in a 2ft tank with only 36W and its doing well.

Absolutely not true, you can only grow limited plant on 2ft tank with 15W. It is probably true long time ago when planted tank not popular yet. But now a days Typically you will find 55W 2ft lightset or 2x24 t5HO

    Re: question on moss

so far my java moss has grown without additional lights, fert, gravel or cooler. the cherry shrimps all hide in it. java moss is a good start for easy maintenance. mine just survive on normal indoor conditions.

    Re: question on moss

Growth would be achieveable with 7W, but expect it to be really slow. Growth will be more stringy as well.
The plus point is that it won't heat up the water too much.

Doubling the amount of light should be more practical.

Mosses appreciate clean and cool water too!

    Re: question on moss

48w should be fine for 2ft, this should enable your to plant most of the average or less lighting plant
