I believe C328 will be your best bet.
Hi bros
I need some help here, i have been considering to get an eheim 2213 Plus to replace my dying Eden 501. Been using my eden for almost 7 months and the flowrate has dropped drastically so i think its time for an upgrade.
So far i look around the lfs i only see the model of eheim 2213 without media or taps. Can any bro enlighten me on where to get the Eheim 221 Plus set which comes with both media and the taps?
Would also be great if i can know the pricing. If it is too sensitive, please PM me.
Thanks
Eric

Give Nature Aquarium a call to check on availability![]()
normally you need to buy the media and the tap seperately. However, you can check with NA and C328, they may have special discount for a set.
Darn, so i guess they do not have the Plus Kit in sg? was hoping to get the kit since it mite be cheaper =S

they seem to have it easily online though![]()
Just give them a call or visit they may have.
Sigh, i contacted NA and aparently they no longer have the plus set and only have the Set with the blue sponge without the double taps. Looks like i have gotta keep searching or bargain for a set from c328.
Eden 501 flow rate has now became a trickle. I wouldn't recommend this filter for the flow rate drops drastically after a few months. Mine is only 8 mths old.
ah dui....there was a promo which ended Nov 09. it comes w/o media only blue sponge but foc 2x quick release tap. i got a 2215 then. But you may check with C328 to see if they still got left over.

Maybe you can call up Seaview and ask. They have 15% discount on equipment as well.
Hello Eric,
Regarding your 501, did you do any filter maintenance in the 8 months of usage? The flow rate of my 501 has been constant for the past few months without me doing anything, primarily because I added another piece of sponge at the section of the filter that is meant for the ceramic rings. Cleaning the sludge in the hoses and pipes actually help too.
This issue is also prevalent in any canister filter once mulm builds up in the hoses. Even algae growth can restrict the flow rate of filter no matter what the brand is. I would advise you to spend some time to clean the 501 and the pipes/hoses if you can, before tossing it out for a replacement.
If the impeller is not damaged or the filter is not clogged up, there should be no reason to think that the 501 is not a worthwhile filter, and that it's flow rate goes lower on purpose over a period a time. Lack of filter maintenance is probably the main reason why some filters just seem to get weaker over time.
However, if you do want to upgrade, just find a cheap 2nd hand 2213 in good condition and buy the taps separately. I think I paid about $32? for 2 x Eheim double taps when I purchased my 501 initially. A 2nd hand 2213 could probably be purchased for roughly the same price as a brand new 501. Or you could find a bigger Pro series canister like 2222 or 2224 with more media space. Only other thing you need are brand new hoses maybe, and since most dislike the green Eheim hose, a cheap clear-type hose can be purchased at your neighbourhood hardware store. A good rinse should be enough to get them ready for use. Plenty of offers on 2nd hand Eheims in the Marketplace section, so maybe that might be more cost efficient as compared to getting a brand new set with all the extra bits and pieces you want.

Hi Stormhawk,
Thanks for your advice, manage to get the EDEN 501 to have a higher flow rate again. The problem was as u said the build up of mulm. After reading your post i went to deconstruct the entire filter to clean it and aparently there was a high mulm buildup in the L tubes and the impaler area. After cleaning that up, the flowrate was back ! Guess i have to take back my previous comment on EDEN501.
Forgive me for my noobness![]()
No one is noob when it comes to fish keeping. We all learn along the way.
Talking about mulm, I got some clean-up to do myself. A 2026 is way underpowered for a 4 footer.![]()

oopppss..i use 2026 for my 2footeroverpowered..
The role of master and servant begin to cloud in the water..
You can say that, but over filtration is always better than under filtration. If your fish are used to the flow rate of the 2026, then there should not be any problems. Some fish don't like fast flowing water as much as others.
I definitely need to upgrade to a bigger filter soon though.![]()

reading this thread just reminded me to clean my tubes and L joins soon.

hmm, i think we should create a thread on maintainance of filers so newbies like me could learn how to properly maintain a filter and prolong the filter lifespan and save money
Is there already such a thread? We should make it a sticky![]()
