how big is your tank? 36W is not enought to keep glosso low. Unless you don't mind glosso grow tall. It should be ok for riccia and fissiden

    Re: is 36watt light enough?

in my opinion, 36 watt may not be enough for the glosso and riccia. i have a 2ft and also used a 36 watt previously with co2 injection. the growth is quite slow for plants (however note that my tank is a bit deeper than the usual 1 feet, it's about 1.5 ft deep). i think minimum you should use is 48 watt.

Without CO2 you can forget about glosso.

Just take note that glosso is a very demanding plant. If you dont meet their requirement, either they grow up, leaves turn pale, etc etc... till they die off.

Hey, just like to check, 8hr on and 4 hr off means a total of 16hr on in a day or 8hr? If 16hr, you should get some serious algae issues especially with 36w and no co2 injection.

try not to turn on more than 10 hours a day. 8 hours a day is a good start.

36W is not enough for glosso to creep in a standard 2ft tank, tried and tested before by me Need at least 55W, best 72W (PL lighting).

    Re: is 36watt light enough?

they are all ok but for riccia don't expect it to pearl though. The light may not be enough to make riccia pearl but it should grow

    Re: is 36watt light enough?

no you can't unless you change thwe ballast as well.

This is why I always tell people get as much because it is easier to reduce intensity rather than increase
