    Hi all,

Previously someone had started some threads in the market place to exchange their apisto fries. I think that was a good idea and maybe we can have one consolidate thread over here as easier to view by apisto keepers.

If it is not ok, admin please delete it or moved it to relevant section. thanks.

I think this is a good idea. Wonder if we can have a section in the marketplace for fry exchange.

    Yeah... Finally someone voice out..!
    It's a great idea...
If we can trade adults even better as some bros who buy a pair may end up getting 2 males etc...
Why don't change the thread title to "Apistogramma Exchange Programme?
    What do you guys think?

    Re: Fries Exchange Programme

I saw that too, and i thought exchanging fries over here would benefits more people and more sustainable hobby.

Well, guys, please post your ideas and discuss more about this. After that, we can have a clean thread solely for exchange.

    Re: Fries Exchange Programme

I just find that solely exchange of fries is not the only options..
Best is can trade fish or male/female..
Then try to breed and expand it together..
Haha fries I don't think is a problem.

Yeah marle: that's very nice of you.

    Re: Fries Exchange Programme

Exotics, i think different people got different needs lah. To you, fries is not a problem. Like marle, he wanted to exchange fries. To me, sometimes i need to trade my adult fishes, sometimes i wanted to exchange other fries.

Let more people input their ideas and discussion. Very quiet, seems to me. ( Maybe to them, fries or adult not a issue )

    Re: Fries Exchange Programme

Mods, any suggestions on how we can kick start this?

I agree that theres also no need only to be limited to just fries but adult fishes. For eg. if one is bored of keeping this particular breed, one can exchange with another hobbyist for another species.

There can be an exchange thread for Apistos whereby those with fishes to exchange can just add it into the thread for new paticipants to browse through.

Additionally, we can follow preset some guidelines such as posting photos of acutal fishes and top up of market value etc etc. to prevent any disputes after exchanging.

    Apistogramma Exchange Programme Guidelines

    1. Picture taken of fish must be within 7 days of exchange. (Pictures of actual fish must be current)

    2. Fish to be valued priored to exchange and top ups should be of mutually consent.

    3. Participants are to inspect fishes on the spot and have the choice of whether to withdraw or not without any disputes.

    4. Participants are to show up at the predetermined time and venue.

    5. Once after exchange, there should not be any complaints or exchange back unless within a reasonable amount of time, the new owner finds out the fish is sick/diseased prior to the exchange.

    6. Any exchange back for nomal cases is confined to each individual situation and must be agreed mutually.

    Something like that la..

    Re: Fries Exchange Programme

I haven't given this much detailed thoughts as you have with your list.
But I can input another suggestion that could make the program more sustainable.

I had a discussion with Yorky on "shadow purchase" a couple of years ago..
The idea was to have someone or more than one to "shadow" with acquisition of similar adult fish.
Usually hobbyist will get only one pair of a fish (though I always got 2 pairs myself for the same reason).
As you know wild caught fish can easily die with a days or weeks.
So you are left with a single widower....
With someone "shadowing" your purchase you can sell off the fish to him.
This idea has a hurdle as there are many types of Apistos though.

    Re: Fries Exchange Programme

I think we should seriously consider this exchange programme. As mentioned, many apisto hobbyist have problems of single widower fishes. I think it is a good idea, as some of us may extra apisto fries to trade for some other apistos for our widowed fishes. We should seriously consider this programme.

Bro mobile2007, you have my support.

If you guys read before few years thread they also have this kind of exchange programma but doesn't last long..
Why can't the mod just add it as sticky at cichlid?

    Re: Fries Exchange Programme

Thanks bro zenislev. I put this idea up in hope of benefit all.

The reason i put fries only because, as i mentioned earlier. Previously i saw someone ( should be marle) posted in the market place to exchange fries and thought it was a good idea. So, i raised it over here to make people easy to find the information.

I did missed out the adult fishes, but hey, that's why i posted here to ask for more discussion and input , right?

I sensed abit of sarcasm in this post and not sure why. In the previous post, I just mentioned that different people have different needs, be it fries or adult. I disagreed that fries are not important. However, I did not opposed your idea of exchanging adult fishes only, right?

If there is a misunderstanding, i hope this will clear things up.

I am not a moderator, i just try to make things better for the apisto keepers. No one will send me a pair of diplotenia even this working.

    Re: Fries Exchange Programme

I currently have a pair of bitaes, in time to come, if they breed and I have fries, I would definitely like to find other F1 fries from the same locality for my next line.
I would like to exchange 5 or 6 Celestial Pearl Danios/Microrasbora Galaxy for 3 Otos. If interested, please SMS me at 82186199

    Re: Fries Exchange Programme

Bro mobile, I got no hard feeling for you.
Just that you open this thread for sometime already,
I'm sure the mods did read up on this and maybe they find it meaningless to support this exchange programme or thinking where to start as it's always easier to talk than to be done.. You have my support always

Bro jittius, hopefully the new beginning starts soon.
