    Can this stuff (marimo balls) be separated and grown in wire mesh as a forground plant? I think I remember hearing that. Thanks.

    I see more posts and see that it can be done. New question: If I was constructing a foreground and wanted the shortest plant in the front what would be the shortest. Would it be Cladophora aegagrophila (Marimo ball) or Fissidens splachnobryoides (mini fissidens)? Or would something else be shorter?

    yes can be done, look at IAPLC 2009 tank #2. Both marimo ball and fissiden can be trim short

    I read some where that marimo ball growth rate is extremely slow, literally like no growth if you see it in a short time frame. If you like no maintenance you can try that =)
