If you ever visit Seaview, check out the main tank on the left and look for a tiny moving marimo moss ball.

It's actually a nerite snail fully covered in Cladophora, or I believe the lesser seen Green Brush Algae which actually looks pretty good in a tank.

The snail looks very cool!! I am going to embark on experimenting with cultivating the algae on the snails shells, as I believe given the lifespan of the snails it shouldn't have taken too long for the algae to grow and cover the entire shell.

Anyone with experience or read about people cultivating Green Brush Algae please share in this thread!

picture taken from www.garfishindo.com, check out the algae on this snail. Someone told me it's man-made, meaning they stick the algae on the snail.

Boxedfish: the snail at Seaview looks much better, it's algae is of the short, bushier and brighter green variety. I'm thinking of attaching it myself too heh.

PKB: Serious.. Sigh I wanted to go down again and ask if they willing to sell.

my nerite snail has algae grows on it by itself. I always need to pluck it off as I am afraid that the algae will all over my tank. I think it will potentially spread like a wild fire as it is a moving algae brushes!

cool! can i trade for your snail with a brand new super clean snail? =)

Or maybe a small harvesting of the algae growing on its shell?

My Assassin Snails pretty much have hair algae growing on their shells. For some reason the algae got attached, not by my action, but naturally. I like the effect and the snails are not affected in any way by it at all.

I got this picture from aquariacentral.com forum. Header says snail fashion. I'm really tempted to superglue some to those pesky snails in my tank. That is if i can find some suitable algae first.

Latest update: Due to a mixture of a pair of itchy hands, a few pest snails, some small tufts of BBA and leftover gel superglue a Mini "Don King Snail" is born. I will post pictures when i have more free time.

As promised, here's the picture of freshly modified pond snail.
Update: The BBA did not survive the surgery and died off on the back of the snail...=(

    Re: Marimo (Cladophora) Nerite snail

I used super glue 'gel' just a little bit at the end of the fluff and place it on the snail, it will attach rather easily, no harm to snail.
