I must say that I really enjoy the Photography workshop by Benny last saturday, although I realised that I am also a photography-noob after the session. Benny is willing to share his knowledge and skill and his amazing arsenal of cameras and those wow-wow flashes, it is an overwhelming but invaluable experience. Must really thanks AQ, Benny, the Mods and of course Biotope for providing the Demo and hands-on tank with a nice scape and lively fishes in it. Hope that we will have more such events coming.

I overheard Adrian (Blue33) said that he shot his last year IAPLC scaping entry using a point-and-shoot camera, so at the end of the day, you really need to have a nice attractive and inspiring aquascape to begin with. The cameras and photography skill and techniques can make it more photogenic and appealing to the judges' eye.

Hello Benny, AQ Mods, Biotope and all my fellow AQ friends,

This was is a wonderful session conducted by the team. I really learn a lot during this "discussion" (actually Benny is the one talking 90% of the time) .

It is a very good introduction to Aquarium Photography to both beginners and experience folks whom have never tried aquarium photography. Let us know what are the minimum we need to do to make our pictures more presentable.

Appreciate the efforts from Biotope for setting up the tank, Benny for unselfishly sharing his knowledge and all the AQ mods for taking time off to prepare for this event.

How about like this? You can see most parts in detail.

I do not wish to say any more as i do not want to offend people. All i can say is check meter reading.

Is post processing part of the workshop?

Could anyone post on how to do post processing or better still what need to pay attention to when you do post processing such as brightness, contrast, saturation, etc.

Only photographing, no processing but Benny did mention and showing on the exposure editing. Those pictures posted in jpeg without editing in raw stage, no processing was done on it.

Sorry! Missed the workshop but can anyone share what the hairdryer is for? Or do I need to wait for the 2011 workshop to find out?

hairdryer is to create surface movement, make the scape more dynamic but it is not always. Sometime you want to see the reflection of your scape on the water surface.

Most grass grow faster than fish! haha

Good workshop! I would go one step further and make the bg white. Add one more flash to the setup and use the projector bg instead of the corrugated cardboard.

When doing photography for tanks, must ensure that the reflection, and the light source, how to make the light source bring out the 3D effect for it.

I do agrees that those shots are underexposed and the need to bring out the 3D effects, but also do agrees with Blue's comment
