Just saw a new clutch of eggs near the front of the tank. This pair has been spawning consistently. Sorry for the poor images.

Will try to snap some when I get home tonight. I'm very lousy at taking photos though. In the first pic the female is actually right beside the eggs.

Yes purple chin orange tail. Once they start they just keep on spawning every few weeks.

Unfortunately I lost many batches of eggs due to neglect. Out of 5 batches of eggs I only managed to get 2 batches of fry to free swimming and raise 1 batch.
Lost most of the eggs because I spooked the female or only realised there were wriggling fry after a water change.

Chongyu, have you tried artifically hatching them? I've tried with my wilhelmi. It works with them, as their eggs aren't so sensitive.

    Re: Apistogramma sp. "wilhelmi" spawn.

Hi Jitticus, this pair is actually from you. Haven't actually thought of artificially hatching as this pair has successfully raised brood before.
The few spawns that fail are because I did water changes during the eggs and wriggler stage. Another time is when the fry are only at one or two days of free swimming and I only noticed them during the water change.
I prefer to let the parents take care of them since there is no aggressiveness between the pair.

Do take note that not all the fries will spot the purple chin when they grow up.

    Chong Yu,
I've been really lucky with this line in that all the males in the spawn (a total of 7) had purple chins! It's quite remarkable. Just lost the biggest F1 piece due to bacterial infection but his chin was so purple it looked almost black/maroon!

I gotten 6 juveniles from another person with none sporting purple chin.
I'm quite surprised out of the first batch I have from this pair already 3 are sporting purple chin at 3cm.

    Some pics of the pair.

    Nice pair you have there.
    What is the tank-size?
I like your set-up with lot of "green".

Thanks. It is a 2 feet with a divider. The partition for this pair is around two-thirds of the tank. The plants are randomly planted, a bit messy.
