hi bro. i see that you had the filter for the past 5 years? if im not wrong, you might need to service the O ring. hope this helps![]()

I have a JEBO 809 external filter that have been running for the past 5 years. Today when I turned off the electricity and did not turn off the inlet and outlet valve on the pipes, the water started to leak from the sides of the pump. The water column from the inlet tube is still drawing water from the tank but as the pump is turned off the water is not pumped back. Usually the filter should not leak as the seals should be keeping the filter airtight. However the seals seem to be failing as even just water pressure from the water column without any pumping is causing the filter to leak.
Anyone has a similar experience? What can be done about this? Or do I need to get ew gaskets or a new filter?

Advice from boss Felix

Hi there,
You might get parts from poly art.
i saw the hose plugs (or what you call them) on sale.
But you might want to call them up 1st.
Can check the Fish shop directory for more details on the telephone number

The leak is not from the hose. Its from the side of the canister. I checked the O ring seal and cleaned it. Its working. I noticed that the large plastic clasp at both sides of the filter is not clasping fully. No matter how I adjust it the clasp is not clamping as strongly as before. The clasp is plastic and I think its softened. I think that is the cause as the head of the filter is not clamped tight enough to the bottom canister portion such that even water pressure from a 3 feet water column is enough to leak through.
I am wondering if JEBO sells replacement clamps or I have to jerry rig one or get a new filter.

i was meaning, since they sell that part. Maybe will sell O ring and such.
I think all this comes with age. why not consider getting a new one?
