Which Filter Media Do you prefer?

i am using 3 types Eheim substrate pro, ADA Bio Rio, Dennerle filter pearls and chips. crystal clear water.

What will be the most prefer or suitable filter media for planted tank? Prices is not an Issue for the choice of selection, so just ignore it.

1. Eheim Sustrate Pro
2. Bio Home Plus
3. ADA Bio Rio
4. Sera Siporax
5. China CR Ring

why no one use seachem matrix ar??

me me just got it for my 2213... first time using seachem. lets see how is the results after 3 mths.

I got extra filter, that is why i use it for my 2 ft tank .. the more the filter, the better the water quality?

2213 might not really suitable for 2 ft FULL planted tank, it is best to add another 2215 on it. i bet it will get better result. however, just an trial test and monitoring. Not sure what will my 2ft tank become after few month

To be honest, I think having 2 filters don't necessarily mean better filtration - especially if the filters aren't run properly.

What type of filter media to use depends on what flora and fauna you'd like to support and what water parameters you'd like to maintain.

Nonetheless, it's good to have 2 filter in case one of the two breaks down!

I agree with you, my 2213 using pure eheim substrate pro with sponge. Result = Super clear water

Bro, are you using the original blue sponge? Can share your layering of the media in your 2213?

http://www.eheimasiapacific.com/prod_e_media_setup.html <- I follow the setup here for 2213. But, i skip the 1st layer of putting mechanical filter media. My 1st layer is the original blue sponge which also does the same thing as the mechanical media by trapping large/medium debris, 2nd layer is eheim substrate pro (around 1 litre) to cultivate bb and lastly the white sponge (fine filter pad) to trap tiny debris.

Thanks Kenzai. i was toying with either the blue sponge or CR as i find the CR traps more big bubbles and the flow is lower than the blue sponge. Ok, i'll dump the CR, wack more substrate pro.
