    Saiberg,

    Have you made a decision?

I will so some sum up to make things easier. You are in favor of the 2215
    http://www.eheimasiapacific.com/prod...r_classic.html
Minimum hassle, drawback can't control flow.
    3-6 maintenance period.

    I would recommend a 2026.
    http://www.eheimasiapacific.com/prod...lter_pro2.html
Multiple cartidge for different media, able to control flow rate.
Maintenance period can be 3 mths but recommended at 1-2 mths. (Sometime can find fish trapped inside)

The killer and one of the most tasty filter would be 2073 (Pro 3)
    http://www.eheimasiapacific.com/prod...lter_pro3.html
More cartidges for different media, able to control flow rate. High Tech. One of the latest design. Pro 3e would require PC for adjustments. Drawback, expensive, but you get what you paid for.

If you have not seen it, I still recommend you to go down to Qianhu to take a look.

What Shadow mentioned is quite true about replacement parts. So you need to very very careful at your selection, don't buy already regret later.

    Fluval Manuals are found here:
    http://www.hagen.com/uk/aquatic/manuals/fluve01.cfm

    Fluval Filters are found here:
    http://www.hagen.com/uk/aquatic/sub_...T=1&SUBCAT=107

It would be easier to bargain at Clementi Flourist, however, you still need to ask that you be allow to inspect the each of the parts to make sure there is no part damaged. Same way you would buy computer parts. This is one of the important things to do so make sure you keep this in mind.

Filter media if you are looking at 3 layers, have a sponge layer, a bio-ring layer and one for activated carbon or bamboo ash. These are quite cheap are can just easily start you off. Activated carbon is only required at the start, thereafter when water clears up you can discard it, no point keeping it or "recharge it". Might as well buy new ones if required.

=) QianHu of course. Rest of them are retailers. Qianhu is a combo of Yihu and Qianhu. Don't think I want to touch on their history. You can read more on qianhu website. Don't tempt yourself to use SMS lingo or shorthand writings to be exact. AQ is read by people from other countries as well, hence maybe you can edit the sms lingo or shorthand writings. =)

Re: Best canister filter for a 2 feet planted..

i was thinking of changing my Eden501 for my 19 litre cube tank to a Eheim one.

So i was at QianHu yesterday to check out the different models but the sales person there told me that a 19litre cannot use ANY type of external filter. I was thinking of a slightly bigger Eheim one like 2222 just in case I upgrade my tank in the future...

He even told me that the Eden is way too powerful for my 19l tank. Too powerful even if fitted with rainbars.

    Is it true?

    Thanks

    Michael

Hi Mic, this is Mic also.

The man is correct. Too powerful is the word. How about posting a new thread? That way we can dedicate this thread to Saiberg and address your request for recommendation of filter in another thread dedicated as well. At post time, there are 3 moderators standing by to offer help..lol.

    hi,
can't help but noted that this eden 501 is very powerful. Does it mean good and where is it from? Also this brand eden , is it a relatively reliable one?
also what is the rate of this cannister if you don't mind?
    thanks.
