From the picture, it sure looks like hair algae..Green, thread-like and bushy.

Hi, got this green clump of plants growing on top of my moss after I dossed some "moss-powder". The clump is as shown in the picture below.
It looks like alage with very fine strip like and the funny part is there seems like some sort of "branch" on the single stem strip.
But it sure like like alage to me.
So question to the expert:
Is this alage or young moss??? had never seen a moss grown before so not sure if this is young moss.
PLease help me out before I removed the "unknown" plant.

how to remove it?
i oso got the same problem.
Introduce yamatoes or manually use toothbrush to remove.

wah like that will brush until siao ar[]
i'm scratching my head
what is ... moss powder? why did you add it?
anyway, manual removal is an option, but i'd use my hands to gently remove as much as i can
then add in some shrimp to eat it for you
if you want to brush, i think your hands cramp finish the algae is still there
i tried that for my styrofoam wall last time
fingers got locked together []
shrimp cleared it for me in 2 wks
way to go

Got the "mos-powder" from a LFS at $25. told me it is very good for moss growth.
i am a newbie so give it a shot to try since my moss is not growing at all.
I think it is some sort of compound chemical, maybe PMDD but no sure so better don't anyhow say.
Anyway, the other plants are growing quite well after doss but the moss are not growing too well. So wait and see first.

Mosses will not survive in temperature higher than 28 deg. Even 28 deg is pushing it. Try to achieve 27 deg and below to successfully grow them.
With the kind of hot weather we are xperiencing right now, its really hard to achieve temp below 28 deg using dc fan to cool of the tank.
So just hope and pray that ur moss with make it through these hot season.![]()

no wonder the moss are not growing too well. My tanks has a average temperature of 32degC due to the enclousure it is in.
Thanks for the info, will try to DIY some cooling fan in the cabinet.
