If price is a problem, go for JBL base fert....good and cheap.
Hello people, this is my virgin post. []
I was recommended Dennerle Deponit Mix-120 by a friend and was told its a very good product. But, I am seriously considering it as its VERY EXPENSIVE!!![]()
A 4kg tub cost around $80.
Is it worth to invest in this product and also, is it really good? How long can it last?
Tks

Tks for the reply.![]()
My friend is using the Deponit Mix-120 and he told me its only enough to cover the gravel with a thin layer. Is this enough?
Tks

2 bags of JBL base fert is more than enough for your 3 ft..

Substrate fert is substrate fert. all plants end up needing the same thing. you can very well use chicken manure, so price for substrate is very much about branding.
i agree that all plants need the same stuff why not get stuff that is cheap and value for money. how bout GUCCI BASE FERT.[]
hi,
i am on 3 footer as well. 2 bags of JBL retailing at about $16/bag.
If you are really tight on cash, why don't you try a $4 alternative?
2 big of potting soil (red soil and not black) or cocopeat, each at $2. I tried them and they work.
You can read more about using soils at How to Build a Soil Substrate and Substrates for Aquarium Plants.
I have been using cocopeat in my tanks. Got them from Cold Storage at $2 per 5L pack. Plants do as well. But if you are KS and still tight on budget, can get a bag of JBL to mix with the soils.

Deponit mix is no doubt very good but the price is a wee too expensive for me. I'm going to setup my 4ft tank this few days and I will be using a mixture of Aquatic Compost, JBL Aquabasis and maybe some mixtures of laterite or iron rich soil.
