Its a peruvian fish so should be from the recent imports from NKS. A very nice specimen you scooped!

    Re: Apistogramma sp. Galaxis

The honour should go to Jitticus for sexing the fishes in a tank full of stressed apisto. Took us an hour, kneeling down as the tank was located at 'not so comfortable' .

Very nice fishes indeed. A totally different look after it has stable down.

    Re: Apistogramma sp. Galaxis

Find one day we go together?
I know nuts about sexing unless the female display yellow dressing.
And the apisto there all almost colourless...

Ben, if the water is clean and not black. just bring along a mirror.
Lure the alpha male out, it should be the fittest. ( making him flare at his reflection)
then from carry on from there.

    Re: Apistogramma sp. Galaxis

Thanks henry, but we won't know whether the boss there would mind us putting a mirror inside his tank.

    Re: Apistogramma sp. Galaxis

Hi exotic, i sit infront of my apisto tanks and basically stare at them for hours.
Most differences between males and females are species dependent. For instance, in bitaeniata, the ventral length is very as an indicator.
For galaxis, look at body color.

On the same note, I believe that all the galaxis males have been taken. You could possibly find some bitae females and shishita females but i'm thinking perhaps you'd need to sift through the whole tank.
