    Hi,

I'm new here and new in trying out this lifetime hobby.

I got 2 questions to ask. I have read somewhere that reversing the flow of a undergravel filter i.e. water flow from the external filter to the undergravel filter and through the sand then back to the extenal filter again is better. Is that so?

Right now, I got a 42* 12 * 2 inch tank. thickness 6mm. Will this tank take the water pressure?[:0]

do away with the undergravel filtration(UGF)... let the gravel forms a method of filtration aka DSB...where it helps to break down the waste... dun disturb it using UGF...

also, 6mm would be too thin... btw, is the dimension that u gave, a bit wrong right??? 2 inch height???

    Hi,

    Thanks for your advice.

sorry about that. it's 24" in height.

So if I dont't use the UGF. Uh..... how do I clean the bottom of the tank? How much coral sand do I need?

    Please advice.

u leave it.. u dun touch the sand... let the bacteria break down... as for the coral sand, if u are doing up a DSB, u need to consider at least 4"
