hi there, i saw some orange shrimps when i was purchasing some bds.
they look somewhat like sakuras in size, kinda transparent, orange like mandarin, pretty.
Are they highly regarded in the dwarf shrimp world?
will they breed with sakuras or crs?
am comtemplating getting some.![]()
erm, no offence, but your information is slightly wrong.
Orange shrimp is in the caridina family, its scientific name is caridina propinqua.
Whereas for green shrimp, it is hard to ascertain whether they are caridina or neocaridina. Some green shrimps originate from neocaridina heteropoda, which would make them in the neocaridina family. However, some greeen shrimps originate from caridina babaulti, which is a caridina.
Would like to know where i can purchase some blue pearls. i've only ever seen them on the net, never eye-balled one.
would they cost an arm and a leg? how much is the price range?
will they breed with crs, bds, sakuras?
Hope someone can shed some light!
Thanks!![]()
Don't buy all the blue ones... keep some for me!
am simply intrigued by the colours of the shrimps... think how pretty they'll look when placed together as tank mates!
do you kn if the orange, green and blue shrimps are bout the same the same size as sakuras? don't want large one like yamatos in my tank!!! horrors!
by the way, where is CRS haven?
CRS Haven is at Blk 477 Tampines st 43
Not sure about their business operation time. But you can check out their website for details. www.crshaven.com
I kept different color of shirmps before and they look nice provided their colors never change. I find only snowball, sakura, yellow shrimp are quite consistent in their color. Orange and blue shrimps tend to change colors. Green shrimps are quite consistent but their greeness can be faint to dark depending on water conditions. Never buy green cherries or malayan as labelled by LFS, they don't look green to me, you can find the best green shrimp in CRS haven and they have orange shrimps too some already changed colors. I think the boss told me they used to have blue (pearl) shrimps before, try your luck there.
On the other hand, having purely BDS or CRS in a tank is also a beauty without mixing with other shrimps.
They probably sold out their greens, I bought it from them. The last time (about 3 weeks ago) I saw a few bags of nice green (bigger size one) was at Serangoon north ave 2. This week went to C328 too, the green not so attractive (plain and colorless) but they have many orange shrimps.
sadly, am staying far away from all the popular LFS. sigh.. yes, shall do the clever thing by calling first! thanks... am contemplating 10 orange and 10 green in addition to the 10 bds, 6sakuras and 8 crs plus 80 shrimplets. overload you think? 1 and half foot by 1 foot tank w quite a bit of moss!
Why are the green shrimps the best at CRS? They are selling around $2-$2.50 per piece right?
Y618 only selling at 80cents each. If you go on the day when the stocks arrive(usually on wednesday but not always though), you get to pick and there are usually lots of berried ones.
