Probably threat display, or the largest one is establishing a pecking order within their group. Very nice specimens by the way.

I am never a big cichlids person! I didn't know these are eartheaters until I stumble onto this thread. I always address them as "horse face" .. AKA " BEH BIN " (hokkien) Pardon me.. I goto my cousin's house I will tell him, your "beh bin" very nice.

    Re: EvolutionZ's RHT EarthEaters

pair spawned again 2 days ago.. as i know they won't survive with a aro inside. i took out all the eggs and place it in a net which is also in a tank..
after 2 days, have around 50 eggs around 15 turned white and some hatching(hopefully i am correct)

i saw a few eggs with black worm like thingy sticking out of the egg and wriggle around.. are they infected by parasites or actually hatching?

heres a photo.. the best i can take..

uploading a video of them laying eggs.

give them a tank of their own.
really enjoyable when you see them babysitting their offsprings.
