Judging from her color, the fries must have hatched.

    Re: Apistogramma Showing Singaporean Behaviour

Actually there is quite a sad story behind this.

There are only 2 fries inside the cave. This batch is the first batch of fries which i had removed from the mother after approximately 3 weeks of her taking care of them. Mum has not seen this batch for another 6 weeks. But due to lack of tank space, i put back this batch into a small container floating in the Elizabethae pair tank. Somehow, the fries managed to escape and i wasn't sure what happened next.

The next day, i saw this huge pile of gravel stacked(the one in the picture), and i assumed the pair might have spawned again. I wasn't sure if the mum still recognized her babies after the period of absence. I too, decided to remove the male after the female became extremely ferocious(much more aggressive than usual).

A week or so passed and i was puzzled why she wasn't bringing her newborn fries out for a swim and she was in her breeding colour still! Curious, i flipped open the cave, to find the 2 fries.. but they were dead. I think it was because the male had injured/killed them unknowingly and the female was really upset with him. She had thus brought the fries in trying to nurture them back to health.

Presently, i think the pair have made up, housed together and are preparing for their next spawn.
