Ok ok I wanted to name this thread dkk08 AQ-ADA Tank but seriously I'm setting up 4 tanks in a row and this is one of them and sighz I'm really not sure how it's going to turn out and which one to submit

Anyway this is more of a sneak preview as I've just washed the tank last friday before I left office for the day at 9pm and well sprinkle some leftover GEX Soil for the pic

    Some Specs of the tank:
    10in cube tank
    ADA Power Sand
    ANS Planta Soil
Lights (I confess I've not yet got the light yet but I'm might be borrowing the light I'm using for the crabarium) > 2x24w T5
will put up more updates and some ideas I've in mind

Of course, constructive criticism are welcome

Yo Adrian, that's not white powder that's actually the base support (the trusty styrofoam, I know I know if I use ADA mat no one will say white powder)

Have been planning (drawing) the scapes on paper, I really really love the vertical scape for 2009 IAPLC and there's a taiwan tank using cork bark (and since I've some cork bark to spare) so I should be playing around with vertical + cork bark scape... as for plants maybe narrow leaf Java fern, pellia, APP or Staurogyne sp. (if I can find any)

will try and scan the drawings later... going to have a major meeting soon at 10am (War time!)

all your plants selection are big plants may not be suitable for 10inc cube.

Since yo are using ANS planta soil, any idea what is it composition?

As Shadow suggest, those plant are too big for a 1ft tank, if you add cork bark you will have lesser space to scape also.

Hi Robert, yeah I agree my plants are quite big... any suggestions? I suggested narrow leaf Java fern and pellia because that's what I've in excess now, and APP or Staurogyne sp. as they're easy and need not have CO2...

Was actually thinking of HC or HM or UG but since I do not have CO2 (its supposed to be a low tech tank) I guess its not advisable to use the above plants? Thought of using US Fissiden which I do have some and they did grow very well for my low tech tank (same tank which I'm using now) before I decommission the tank...

    As for the ANS Planta Soil this is what I got online;

Planta Soil is an artificial substrate that is designed for the planted tank. It's rich fertilizer base contains macro and micro elements that help to achieve faster growth for plants.

It has pH lowering capabilities and prevents pH fluctuation. It is rich in humic acid and creates a natural breeding environment for small shrimps and fish.

Hi Adrian, good thing is I'm still in the planning stages, bad thing is Time is running low

Have yet to scan the drawings as I had back to back meetings today

Looks like the only hardscape is the cork bark with java fern hanging there.

think I play too much CM2010 (Championship Manager 2010) on my iPhone already

Ok imagine Josh's Scape (Took this pic from LittleGreenCorner) and Gary Wu's scape (from CAU)... I know it seems a little over ambitious but well if there's no dreams Rome wouldn't even have been built right

P.S. I sound a bit hyper because I'm having insomnia since last nite (my last log in time was 3+am to AQ) and I'm still feeling wide awake even though my body is tired

Hi Malcolm, try a hot cup of Chamomile with honey, helps your body to relax. Gary's layout is inspirating, looking forward to see how you interpret these 2 tanks to a much smaller scale.

    Hey Ken,

    who Malcolm?

Well I'm finally 90% complete with the setup but I'm only 70% satisfied as the Staurogyne sp.are melting

The hairgrass, HC and Myriophyllum mattogrossense are surviving so are the let's wait and see... may have to change the Staurogyne sp. to APP instead

No-no-no don't change to APP. If you do it will take over your tank in no time. APP grow is very-very fast and your tank is too small.

hmmm that's what I want actually, I'm sure it'll be able to "carpet" the part of the tank before 15 April?

At least APP is easier to maintain then Glosso or Riccia right?
