possible did that before. one comment is make sure your hardscape is stable. if it is not then put something to make it stable, something like Styrofoam.
Dear all,
I need to move my aquarium from one end of the room to another. It is a 2ft tank. I am thinking of doing the following fuss free way. Do let me know if it will work.
1) Remove 75% of water (Lifestock and plants still in tank).
2) Move the tank to desired location with 25% water in aquarium + plant + lifestock.
3) Top up to 50% of water using some of the old water.
4) Add another 50% of water using new water.
It will just be like a 50% water change. Not sure if it is feasible or will it split the tank?
Advice appreciated!

you can try to use 4 car jack, a trolley and a few friends.
-jack up the 4 car jack simultinously near to the legs of the stand.
-slot the trolley under the stand
-un-jack the car jack and remove them at the same time
-move the tank to desire position slowly ( while your trusty friend is holding your precious tank )
-place the carjack under the stand ( near the legs area and jack it up to hold the stand )
-remove the trolley slowly( i say again slowly)
-un-jack the car jack slowly ( i say again slowly )
well this is better than dragging the tank across the living room
-just my 1.5 cent-

Yes can be done, just make sure you reduce the weight as much as possible. If you are moving together with your stand. Put hard cardboard under each pair of legs and slide to the place you want it to be by pulling at the very bottom of the legs very very slowly. I ever moved a 3ft tank alone with this method.
Car jack for a 2 footer?

Is your tank on stand or cabinate?

Thanks for advice! Me everyday surfing AQ, so got no friends .... will be a one man show.
Tank is on a cabinet.
You can tilt each end of the cabinate at a time & place thick cloth under it. Then you slide it over to the new location. You may want to wet the cloth so it can slide more easily.

Dear all, thanks! Tank moved with success. I noticed a strange thing... after the move, all the snails previously hidden started crawling up the sides of the tank and allowed me to pick them off one by one.
maybe the snails feels that change of feng sui is not really good for them?

earthquake moved the snails. must be during moving they sensed some disturbance so they move away from the substrate. good idea. maybe try shaking my tank to remove snails. ahha.
seriously, I found the snails phenomenon very interesting. I never saw so many snails in my tank and they all started crawling up the sides! Then to google and found out that some people are trying to see if they can use snails to predict earthquakes.
but my malaysian trumpet snails always climbs up the. does i mean my tank is "earth quake" prone?

while waiting for the snails to move, will it be too late? THink earthquake maybe over already..
Just joking..
Zonk, actually you simply wake them up.
Now before the Sumatra earthquake last year, I so happen to be at home (Woodlands). Minutes before the aftershock came, the entire fish community was actually running about as if they want to tell me something. I bochap and went to the windows for a smoke. That was when the aftershock hit, and mind you I was at 7th floor. Shaking left and right. I run to the tank and saw the water like wave left then wave right. 1hr later news then break on Channelnewsasia of the Sumatra earthquake.
So answer is, most fishes are sensitive to earth vibration. Makes you love them more. Recent news on earthquake are just normal earth's activities. It is because news are made more available so it seem like end of the world. Don't worry about it.
