should be flat worm he is talking about, they will just appear because they are in our water supply. try to kill them with vermax. i'm using it to kill most of the flat worm. you have to be very be careful when dosing.

I had some of those too, was determined to wipe them out, so at every opportunity, was beside my tank, searching for them...
killed quite a few, usually with a long chopstick or the back of a plastic spoon, squishing them against the glass...
think their presence is due to overfeeding.. likely to be feeding on the excess food that's not being eaten by the shrimps.
now i only spot one in a week? and really tiny too.
in my last fish tank, i had a gross one, bout one inch long... and slightly pink.
    be vigilant... wipe them out!
    good luck!

Mafia00, describe your worm in better detail. Not all "white worms" in the tank are automatically flatworms. They can be oligochaete worms or some other critter.

The product is called Vermex, and is found in most LFS. Overdosing it can cause death in other livestock present in the tank. I have no idea however, if it is harmful to shrimp or not.

    Link for Vermex:

The company that distributes GEX, Biohome products here is the distributor for this item as well.

Remove your useful snails if you are dosing Vermax.

Encountered the small white wriggly worms in tank before. It's time to look at cleaning your filter, especially to change your white wool in your filter if you're using white wool.

    Normally, it's due to overfeeding.

last time i introduced tetra into my shrimps tank when such worms appeared. the tetra ate them all just after 2 days and i removed them once job was done. for my tank, the issue is overfeeding.

If cut down feeding now will the worm be gone? or is a must to add the medication?

I see them sometimes, then there gone..

All i did was water change or cleaning filter..

But they are still back occasionally..

Or they stuck into the substrate to hide?

Hi they will continue to be in the water no matter what! For me, I put a couple of Badis (little fish frm India). They eat the worms,i don't feed them anything else, so far so good. Saw them trying to hit on the new born shrimplets but i don't think they can get close or maybe just once in a blue moon(every dog has it's day). i still see a lot of shrimplets grow up!

possible to keep a small tank of small fishes which can gobble up worms and other pests, deploy them when needed, once the deed is done, take them out again.. anyone doing that?... am curious!

think gotta avoid giving feed that falls apart and goes crumbly the moment it's in the water.. you can tell when you see the food dispersing like a fine mist as they have a go at it.my 2 cents...

dont think you need them after the job is done. after that you should control the feeding.

I'm doing that after I think the tank is clean I take them out to their original tank... but still as what many said... control feeding... once feeding is controlled no more such wormy stuff...

thing is, even with controlled feeding, the worms appear from time to time, just killed one(tiny, bout 2mm)yesternight. i only feed every other day plus, take excess food out after bout 2 hours!!
with such a feeding regime, i get a worm once a week or so...
